International Student Work Rights Legal Service

Do you work with international students who need support for living and studying in Melbourne?

I am writing to inform you about the International Students Work Rights Legal Service (ISWRLS)—a free, confidential and independent legal service for international students.

Every Thursday, a Principal Lawyer from JobWatch Community Legal Centre is available help international students with work-related legal problems (excluding migration). JobWatch is an employment rights legal centre which operates out of Victoria and provides assistance to Victorian, Queensland and Tasmanian workers about their rights at work.

• JobWatch website: www.jobwatch.org.au/

JobWatch works in partnership with the Study Melbourne Student Centre (SMSC) to run the ISWRLS. The SMSC is a hub, located in Melbourne CBD, which provides free support, information and contacts to help international students enjoy living and studying in Melbourne.

• SMSC website: https://www.studymelbourne.vic.gov.au/

International students can make an appointment at SMSC with a lawyer from JobWatch by:
• E-mail: info@studymelbourne.vic.gov.au
• Phone: 1800 056 449 (free call from landlines)

I have attached two of ISWRLS’s factsheets:
• Your Rights at Work factsheet
• Cash-in-Hand Employment factsheet

We would love if you followed us on our social media accounts:
• Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ISWRLS/
• Twitter: https://twitter.com/ISWRLS

Please feel free to spread the word about the ISWRLS! Also, don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
